Pokemon Theory : Alain Cheated

*Warning : Do not read if you are not a Pokemon fan.

Welcome to the first post of it’s kind in my blog. This is an anime theory post. It is about my new favourite franchise: The Pokemon franchise.

Now, we all know anime protagonist Ash Ketchum’s annoying habits of losing every single league tournament that he joins. Every time, we get a really lame excuse as to why he lost.

Let me explain in brief here , and in detail in the following Paragraphs. Pokemon trainer Ash Ketchum, has travelled to 7 regions of the Pokemon world so far, and has taken part in the local league tournaments, which are the Pokemon equivalent of the Olympics. But he lost every single time! No matter how powerful his Pokemon were.

In the very first season of the anime, Pokemon indigo league , he lost to a trainer named Ritchie, and his Pikachu. The battle started with Ritchie’s Butterfree defeating Ash’s Squirtle. Ash’s Pikachu defeated Butterfree, but fell to Charmander. Finally, Ash sent out his disobedient Charizard , which beat Charmander but then refused to battle. This can be explained away, since Charizard refused to listen to Ash. This took place in the Kanto Region.

The next major loss was in Season 4 : Johto League Champions. Ash had to battle trainer harrison, from the Hoenn region. Ash sends out his Pikachu, while Harrison sends out a Kecleon. Pikachu wins. The next battle was Harrison’s Sneasel V/s Ash’s Totodile, since Sneasel defeated Pikachu. Totodile wins. Harrison gets desperate and sends out Hypno. Hypno uses Psychic and defeats Totodile. Ash sends out Snorlax who Hyper beams hypno out of the match. The 4th fight was Shiny Noctowl v/s Harrison’s Steelix. Steelix won after a powerful Iron Tail. Next up was Snorlax v/s Steelix. Once again Snorlax won. The final fight was Charizard v/s Blaziken, since Blaziken took out Bayleef and Snorlax. Blaziken was too powerful and it Over powered Charizard. This loss too can be explained away, since Ash did not know about the Hoenn region Pokemon that Harrison used. This took place in the Johto region.

The 3rd loss was in the Hoenn region in season 8 : Pokemon: Advanced Battle. Ash was up against Tyson. Ash sent out his Glalie to battle Tyson’s Sceptile. The result was a double knockout. Next up was Torkoal v/s Tyson’s Shiftry. Torkoal won ( no surprises there). Next up Corphish v/s Tyson’s Hariyama. Hariyama had already knocked out Torkoal. This resulted in Corphish’s defeat. The battle continues as Swellow defeats Hariyama and Donphan. However, Swellow was defeated by Metagross, who quickly defeats Ash’s Grovyle too. Pikachu takes out Metagross but falls to Meowth in the end. This can be explained too as Meowth was proved to be very powerful from the start.

The 4th defeat was in the Sinnoh region, in Season 13 : Pokemon DP: Sinnoh League Victors. Ash was up against Tobias. this was a really short battle as Tobias’ Darkrai took out Heracross, Torkoal and Gible. After this it was finally beaten by Ash’s Sceptile. Tobias then sent out Latios, who took out ash’s 3 remaining Pokemon : Sceptile, Swellow and Pikachu. Although, the fight with Pikachu lead to a double knockout. This loss was because Tobias used extremely powerful Legendary Pokemon.

The 5th defeat was in Unova in season 16: Pokemon BW: Adventures in Unova and Beyond. Ash had to fight to Cameron, who’s Hydreigon,Ferrothorn, Samurrot, Swanna and Rioulu make quick work out of Ash’s Pikachu, Boldore, Oshawott, Snivy,Pignite and Unfeazent. The reason for this was that Ash’s team was really undertrained.

Howerver, the 6th defeat is where the theory comes in. Ash had a pretty good team consisting of Pikachu, Greninja, Goodra, Noivern, Hawlucha, and Talonflame. He made it all the way to the finals where he was up against fore-turned-friend Alain. Alain had Tyranitar,Weavile, Bisharp , Unfeazeant , Metagross and Charizard. These could have been easily be countered with Ash’s team.

So, my theory is that Alain cheated during the match of the Kalos league. Alain was shown to be a member of Team Flare before. Maybe, his loyalties still lay on their side. After all, Team flare was trying to collect Mega-evolution energy ( The energy that was created from the Mega evolution stones, as well as Ash- Greninja( A special form that only Greninja that had a deep bond with their trainers could achieve.

So, what if Team Flare helped Alain cheat so that they could use the Mega evolution energy from the battle. The evidence is as follows:

  1. The Sudden Sunny Day : During the battle between Goodra and Bisharp , Goodra uses rain dance to enhance water type moves, right before it faints. Next was the battle was Greninja V/S Bisharp. The rain dance helped Greninja knock out Bisharp in a single hit. Alain then sent out his Charizard and mega-evolved it to Mega Charizard X. Just then a Sunny Day was used when Mega Charizard did not know Sunny Day, and neither Ash nor Alain used it, where did it come from?

2. Malva : Malva was a news reporter, Elite 4 MEmber, and Team Flare Executive. Several times during the episode, we see Malva looking worriedly at the match. In fact, it might have been Malva, who used the Sunny Day. After all, she was all alone, and could have easily slipped out. Also, several times during the reports she hinted that Greninja would lose. Even Team Rocket got suspicious.

3. Greninja’s Sudden Defeat: During the final battle, Greninja barely took any damage, even from Charizard’s Blast Burn. However, after the explosion, while Greninja still stood tall and Healthy, he fainted which lead to Ash’s loss. Both Pokemon took the explosion equally, so it must have been Team Flare doing something to Greninja during the explosion.

4. Team Flare’s Attack: Team Flare attacked Lumiose city as soon as Alain recieved his winning trophy. They might have used it as a signal to know when to attack.

But hey, that is merely a theory. A Poketheory!
